Vanhatupa, J-M. (2010, Aug 3). Browser games for online communities. International Journal of Wireless & Mobile Networks ( IJWMN ), Retrieved Jun 21 2011, from: http://www.sciencedirect.com.

Summary:
According to the author, multiplayer games played inside a web browser have more effect than normal computer games. Browser games controlled social gaming, because players can play with each other. Also, one browser game forum has thousands of users. The player needs no installation packages to play browser games. Therefore, he or she does not need to buy a game disk from the store. The web has become more general these days. It is available everywhere at public or private places. The article also mentions that anyone with some computer experience can put his/her own browser game on the internet. So, the players can play his/her game in several servers at the same time. Finally, the game time’s speed of browser games depends on the internet speed.

Reaction:

This article is very interesting because it discusses the benefit of web browser games. The Internet helps game players from different countries play together. Also, you do not have to pay for CD games to play; the only thing you have to do is access your computer with the Internet servers. It is like Facebook. You can connect with your friends and play your favorite games. I see just the games, advertising that works with money. I will tell my brothers that. They are always asking me about the games’ news to buy them. They have a mountain of CD games. Playing with your friends via the Internet is a good idea, and it has many advantages; for example, it helps you to save your money, to have fun by playing in a group, to increase your computer’s speed, and to save enough space on computer’s memory. The only disadvantage is you must have internet service on your computer, which is hard to get in my country these days.

Fernandes, R. (2011, Apr 14). Linux - Is it still standing strong? Tech2, Retrieved Jun 15, 2011, from: http://tech2.in.com/opinions/linux/linux-is-it-still-standingstrong/212852.

Summary:

This article discusses the challenge between Linux and other systems like Windows; however, many expected Linux to be an easy replacement for Windows. The author mentions that Linux has many distributions such as Ubuntu. Ubuntu is most definitely the largest one in the crowd. Moreover, there are many distributions that are similar, while there are a number of them that are different. On the other hand, the installation of Ubuntu does not take as long as tat of other operating systems. Furthermore, Linux has advantages that come down to this: you do not need an antivirus and firewall. Also, it has a number of disadvantages, which include the fact that there is not a public interface. The new user has to create his or her account before access to Linux. Most of the distributions have wonderful desktop interface. Linux interfaces have many applications on them, such as games, offices, documents, and network application. Also the article mentions that Android is based on the Linux and many mobiles are offshoots of Linux framework.

Reaction:

I chose this article because it relates to my major, which is computer engineering. Fernandes’ article was particularly interesting because it combined emotional facts with comparing judgments. I aminterested in that because it pushedme to read it to know Linux news. A good quote is, “ Many expected Linux to be an easy replacement for Windows.” That makes me think about which is better now, Linux or Windows. I see that there is no answer for my question. Linux has many distributions such as Ubuntu and Radhat; consequently, each of them has many versions such as Red Hat Linux 6.2, and Red Hat Linux 7.2.. In addition, it seems to be good news for users that you do not have to worry about scanning your computer because Linux system does not need to use an antivirus or firewall. It seems Ubuntu and other distributions did now know about Windows XP viruses. It makes big sense for me because the computer’s users are still worrying about their information on their computers from the hackers by other users or viruses. In my opinion, I have to use the Linux operating system because I can install the system and its programs as free from the internet; moreover, it does not want you to buy expensive antiviruses to save your computer.Indeed, we cannot judge which operating system is better than others. Each one has its own a uses or applications. I like to watch news of Linux operating system because it tries to become global.

Summary:

This article discusses the use of technology in classes. It is a common idea these days because we are in an ear of technology now. The author mentions that students at “Lawrence Township” use the Internet tech in their study. They write and correct repots on the Internet. They also share editing one work at the same time. In another, they chat with other students in other schools by using Skype. So, students can get a wide background on how using computer’s tools, devices and computer programs. The goal is very clear here, which is teaching kids the computer skills a young age and training kids for future jobs. The author shows how that is possible It helps a student to study by him or herself in the home and discuss it in class. The department of Education focused in on providing each one student one computer. It wants a long study to do it. The researcher found that those using tech outperformed their peers who did not on a math test as an example. There are many skills students can learn from using the Internet.

Reaction:

I was very interested in reading about using technology in education. I learned many teaching techniques in this article. Using technology in class is my plan in the future. I learned how the tech reduces students and teachers stress. For example students do not have to write on the notebooks and carry a heavy bag, and teachers do not have to write with chalk and correct a big number of students’ papers. But, the important question is how we can provide one thousand students with one thousand computers in one school. Well, this idea really requires a strong support from the government. Using computer in the school is different from using it in the home. Students learn how to use computer programs in the school such as power point, word, and engrade. However, they prefer to play games in the home. I am not sure about doing the tests by the internet programs. I do not think its a good idea because in my country there are at least three students who are sharing one computer; also the power may go off for a simple cause. So, using technology in education is my future dream.

Summary:

This article discusses the use of new iPad technology in science classes. It a new idea, but it is not new technology for the some students. The students have been in important transition from traditional computers to the iPads. It is more of a developmental idea than using laptops or desktops. The benefit of this technology is speed of reading, and it has a touch screen. Also, the author claims that iPad is very mobile and it is not heavy. Students can move in the class. The result of using this technology is positive. The article shows that you can use iPad in different departments like administration, nurse’s offices, and other places. The most important goals from the idea is reducing the time to get the information by iPad.

Reaction:

My major is a computer engineer .I was a teacher in my country. So, I was very interested in reading about using iPad technology in science classes. I learned many teaching techniques in this article. I have to care about the most important factor, “the time”. iPad technology allows the teacher to teach a lot of things in a short time. When I was a student, I used desktop in my classes. There were a lot of problems my teachers made like the mouse is not working and the download is very slow. My classmate and I were always feeling tired. Sometimes, we took three days in one experiment. However, now I am a teacher I do not want those errors to happen again. We are in an era of technology. We have to used it in the wright way and know how to take the benefit from it. Using iPad is more convenient than using other computer devices. I strongly agree with this article; therefore, I will work to pass idea like these to my country to help my students to learn technique like this and take them benefit.
